Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to an issue with the seat belts. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles produced between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
This defect could compromise the functionality of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to passengers. While Stellantis is aware of one reported injury associated with this issue, there have been no fatalities linked to the recall.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Affected vehicle owners will receive notifications to contact authorized dealerships for a thorough inspection. Dealers will examine the second-row seat belt buckles and anchors and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body structure.
